A COLOURFUL TRADITION

THE COPENHAGEN CARNIVAL is an annual event where you can experience fantastic costumes, Samba dancing and lots of colourful acts. Since its beginnings in 1982, the Carnival has become an extremely popular festival in the Copenhagen area because of the variety of music and performance it offers; there is something for everyone, which is why more than 100,000 come and enjoy the many free concerts and dance performances from all over the world. It lasts 3 days, 29 to 31 May 2009 in Fælledparken and the Carnival parade makes its way through the streets of the city centre starting at Kongens Nytorv Saturday from 11am and culminating at the City Hall Square. The children have their own parade on the Friday. Finally, the Sunday's traditional evening parade in Fælledparken rounds off the Copenhagen Carnival with yet another magnificent show of fervent samba rhythms and gleaming costumes.
