ANOTHER GREAT EVENING AT THAT THEATRE

Join us for a great evening on 2 March with That Theatre Company presenting "Shakespeare Unplugged" which will
be a very special experience as the audience will be part of the play sitting in the bar - which is actually the stage -
during the entire play. Check out this link for more info.

The price includes a drink and Q&A session with actors after the play: kr. 185 - for students under 25 years the
price is only kr. 65.

Shakespeare unplugged
"O, for a pint of Shakespeare best bitter!"
Ben Jonson was a clever lad when he said, "He was not of an age, but for all time!" in the preface to the First Folio.
In his age Shakespeare did more for the popularity of the theatre than any other playwright for he wrote not only high
flown poetry for the gentry but earthy prose for the crowd. He told wonderful stories populated with believable
characters in complex and compelling situations.
Shakespeare Unplugged grounded in the concept that Shakespeare is for everyman in any age seeks to prove that
even two 'blokes' in a pub can be turned on to Shakespeare when their usual form of entertainment is turned off.

Those of you who joined us last time will know that this is going to be great fun - perhaps we might go to that same
cocktail bar after the show!!!

Get your ticket here: billetto

We are looking forward to seeing you all and please send us a message if you are also interested in joining us for
a light and affordable meal before the show.

Competition:

Win 2 tickets to see Shakespeare Unplugged. The first participant to send us the correct answers to the following
questions is the winner:
1.    Name one Shakespeare comedy.
2.    Where was Shakespeare born?
3.    Which play does this quote come from: "Though this be madness, yet there is method in't"?

Send answers to: eva@thecopenhagenbook.dk
Deadline: 15 February 2012

NEW MAJOR INTERNATIONAL KRØYER EXHIBITION

On 20 November, the Hirschsprung Collection will open its centenary exhibition: "KRØYER - an international perspective."
The exhibition will be open until 10 April 2012. This is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition on P.S. Krøyer ever.

Danish painter P.S. Krøyer (1851-1909) has a central position in Danish art history. Krøyer's art is normally seen in the
context of the Skagen artists and as an element in the modern breakthrough in Danish art. But Krøyer was also a cosmopolitan
and part of the avant-garde in Europe. With this exhibition, the Hirschsprung Collection, in cooperation with Skagens Museum,
aims to examine Krøyer's work in a new perspective, setting it in relation to the international art of the time. It was
in fact outside Denmark that Krøyer sold his most important works, and some of those works are now returning to Denmark
for this occasion, on loan from foreign museums and private collectors in France, Germany, the USA and other Nordic countries.
The exhibition consists of paintings, sculptures and studies, and with its 140 exhibits, the exhibition is the largest about Krøyer
to be held in recent times.

New digital guide providing access to further material For its centenary year, the Hirschsprung Collection has launched a
totally new digital guide.
This digital guide consists of an Apple iPod Touch, which can be used free of charge by the public. The guide supplies
extensive background material about Krøyer's works and shows interesting comparisons with contemporary French,
American, Russian and Italian artists. And one can hear excerpts from Krøyer's letters and from the appreciative reviews
generated by his works from leading European art critics.

WOMEN OF THE AVANT-GARDE 1920 - 1940
The exhibition Women of the Avant-garde 1920-1940 presents an exciting but hitherto under illuminated chapter in
the history of art to the public. Works by eight of the most prominent women avant-garde artists of the inter-war years,
Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Claude Cahun, Sonia Delaunay, Germaine Dulac, Florence Henri, Hannah Höch, Katarzyna Kobro
and Dora Maar reveal the story of a network of striking artists who were pioneers and driving forces in the avant-garde
movements that flourished in Europe in those years.

The exhibition presents around 200 works of painting, photography, collage, design, film, and sculpture. It shows the
various aesthetic movements in the avant-garde of the inter-war years, from Dada through Constructivism to Surrealism,
and puts similarities and connections among the eight artists into perspective.

The women of the avant-garde helped to redefine art and at the same time challenged the notion of what women can,
may and should do. Unlike the male artists, the women had no historical status in the academies and artists' groups that
were the natural platforms for men in the art world. The women had to make their own way, and independence, openness
and mobility are recurring features in all eight biographies.

Every Tuesday at 1 p.m. - Free introduction to the exhibition for the museum's visitors.
Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. - Free guided tour of the exhibition for the museum's visitors.

Museum opening hours: Tuesday - Friday 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Monday closed.
