MATISSE - DOUBLES AND VARIATIONS

This year's main exhibition at the National Gallery of Denmark (Statens Museum for Kunst) brings together a range of
absolute masterpieces by Matisse from museums and private collections from all across the world. The works that are
rarely seen together are exhibited in series and pairs. The exhibition, which is realised as a result of co-operation
between the National Gallery of Denmark, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in
New York, adds a new chapter to our shared understanding of the French master painter.

JAZZ IT UP

Copenhagen Jazz Festival is one of the largest and most respected music events of its kind in Europe and serves as a
rendez-vous for trades people, jazz enthusiasts and culture-minded folks in general. With over 250,000 guests per year,
the festival is a tourist attraction as well. Copenhagen Jazz Festival takes place all over the Danish capital in the first
week of July. There are on average 100 venues and 1000 concerts every year.

The festival pays tribute to the freedom and fluctuations of jazz music as an art form and its treatment of musical aesthetics.
It is the necessity for jazz to try something new, while preserving its more classical expression - that is the basis for its
enduring success, making it capable of seducing new audiences, year after year.

The many free, outdoor concerts around town are one of the festival's special features and help make Copenhagen Jazz
Festival the city's most important public festival.
In addition, the festival has made the presentation of jazz in unique surroundings its trademark. Thus the public is able to
enjoy concerts in the city's best concert halls, on an old East-German trawler, in a disused printing plant or in Carlsberg
Brewery's venerable, stately gardens.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2012 takes place from 6 to 15 July.

TREE TOP ADVENTURE
You will find the forest ropes course (Klatreskoven) in the trees at Boble Plads in the Carlsberg district. It has tripled in
size since it opened last autumn. The challenges are in the form of a diving tower, a rapelling wall, a decommissioned
car tied up in wires and two 35 meter long cable cars, 10 meters above the ground.

There are now four climbing courses with four different difficulty levels that are differentiated by their colour: yellow for
small children, green for slightly older children, blue for beginners and red for intermediate and advanced climbers.

In short, there are challenges for anyone who would like to train their coordination and balance at a height. All you need
is a harness, a helmet and safety carbines to experience something that defies the usual pattern of movement. Remember
to take gloves with you if it's cold.

Open every weekend and school holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Adresse: Pasteursvej 8-10, 1799 Kbh V

ED KIENHOLZ - FIVE CAR STUD

Love it or hate it, Five Car Stud (1969-1972) is Kienholz' major work. It represents a group of white men castrating a
black man as his white girlfriend watches. The figures are life-size mannequins wearing masks, illuminated by the
headlights of four cars and a pickup truck. Floating letters in an oil pan on the victim's chest spell out the N word.
Kienholz's aesthetic is uncompromisingly bitter. People are mean and stupid, and things don't get better. Up until
now, Five Car Stud has mostly been known via creepy black-and-white photos taken by Walter Hopps, evoking Night
of the Living Dead and news photos of the Watts riots (themselves two touchstones of race in America).

It is a very special opportunity for Louisiana Museum of Modern Art to be able to show this installation. The preparations
towards the presentation of this one work and its showing have been going on for more than two years. It is on from
6 June to 21 October 2012.
